Hello ! We're Fifth Class ! This year for Christmas, we are doing a play. It is called Little Red Riding Hood. We have been working hard on it and can't wait to show you how good it is. On Monday, November 9th, our class visited Maynooth University for a magic science show. The man who was doing it was funny and interesting. Everyone was focused on what the man was saying and doing, he was very professional. At the start of the year we started reading a book called 'The Thornthwaite Inheritance' by Gareth P. Jones. It was a fantastic book. We finished it before the mid-term break but don't worry we won't spoil it for you by telling you what happens in it just in case you decide to read it yourself someday. Goodbye for now !

Hi again !
This month we have been studying decimals. At first decimals were very confusing but after a while everyone got the hang of them.
Our school play is only a few days away now and we are very excited. Everyone is sorting out their costumes and getting the props ready and we are practising a lot. We can't wait to get up on stage !
Next February we will be performing in the RDS at the Peace Proms concert along with 6th class. It should be great fun too.
During the past few weeks we had 'Food Dudes' going on in our school. When we ate one small piece of fruit and veg we got a small prize. Hopefully it will encourage us all to be a little more healthy with our lunches everyday.
Along with everything else we've been doing, we've also made some Christmas art to decorate our room ! You can check out some of it if you click on our gallery page !
Bye for now !

Hi again !
Well our play, Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf went really well last week. We made some mistakes but it was all fine in the end. We were all exhausted after it though ! Check out some of the pictures below and in the gallery section.
In class recently we organised to do 'Kris Kindle'. Each person had to buy a present for the person they drew out of the hat....maximum €5. We are going to be giving out the presents tomorrow morning....can't wait !
Santa came last week too.
We have just started practising for the upcoming Peace Proms concert in February. The songs are really nice and we have actions to learn off also.
We also finished our Christmas stories that we wrote for the infant classes. We read them out to them earlier today, we think they really enjoyed them !
Anyway holidays tomorrow at 12.30 !!!!!!!!!!!
Happy Christmas everyone and we'll update you again in 2016 !

Hi again ! We've been busy since we returned after the Christmas holidays. On the 7th January we went to the BT Young Scientist Exhibition in the RDS. We split up into groups and saw lots of cool shows. We also saw lots of interesting projects. The Wednesday after that we began swimming lessons in Trim. They are going to go on for six weeks. Th first Wednesday we went there we were asked to swim a width of the pool and then we were split up into four different groups. It was great fun and we all really enjoyed it. Last Thursday week we went to Swords to the National Event Centre to practise for our Peace Proms concert which is coming up on February 7th in the RDS. We really enjoyed that day too. M and M Productions came to our school on the Friday to perform Cinderella. It was very funny. Last Thursday a man called John came to our school to do skipping with us. He was very good and he showed us lots of cool skipping techniques. We got a lot of exercise that day too ! Bye for now !

At the weekend 5th and 6th class went to the RDS to perform in the Peace Proms concert ! Yey !!! We had great fun. We all had to be at the school for 4.30 on Sunday. The bus ride took around an hour. When we went in we were shown to our seats and we had a bite to eat. We had our rehearsal and then we were allowed to wander around for about 45 minutes. The conductor's name ws Greg Beardsell and the orchestra was the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland. Soon the concert began and it was amazing. The soloists were great and if we do say so ourselves the choir was fantastic !!! After the first half we had a 15 minute interval. After that some Star Wars characters came out to entertain the crowd. The concert finished up around 10.45 and then most of us went home with our parents. It was a brilliant day ! Have a look at a few of the photos below.
Our class also put forward a team (Amy, Barry, Clíona and Lucy) for the Credit Union Quiz two weeks' ago in Kilcock. There was 12 rounds with 6 questions in each round. We were tied second at the end so we had to go to a tie break. Sadly we lost but we were delighted to have come third out of so many teams !
This week is Internet Safety Week. We are discussing it in school and at home.
We're all looking forward to our pancakes tomorrow ! Mmmmm !
And on Thursday we're having a Red Clothes Day to raise funds for Heart Children Ireland !
We've also just started dancing with Rita on Tuesdays. It's so much fun. One of the dances we did this week was called 'Shoe the Donkey'. Before we start to dance we have to do some exercises but they're also a lot of fun.
Bye for now !!!!!

Hello again !
Coming up we are having our sports day on the 2nd of June. It is forecast to be 20-26 degrees on Thursday so let's hope it is nice ! We will be doing rounders, high jumps, races and lots more !
This year we are having two school tours in June. One of our tours is a more educational one to the museum at Collin's Barracks in Dublin on the 24th and the other one is to Clara Lara on the 21st with 3rd and 4th class. It should be great fun !
The author Shane Hegarty came to our school to talk about his 'Darkmouth' series of books. He was really funny and he gave us his autograph. He told us that his books have been translated into lots of different languages. His books were really cool and we would recommend them to anyone who likes stories with mythical creatures in them !
Charlie, Colin and Eoin
On Wednesday May 25th Shane Hegarty came to visit our school. Shane is the author of the amazing Darkmouth series of books. I met him first at a book signing in Easons on O’Connell St in Dublin and I thought he was really nice and I invited him to come to Kilcloon. I couldn’t believe it when he emailed me to say that he would !
There are three books in the series and he is busy writing the fourth. They are a fantasy series based in a town called Darkmouth which monsters based on mythical legends are invading. The two main characters who fight the legends are called Finn and Emmie.
He talked to fourth and fifth class and he was really funny. He told us that he decided he wanted to become a writer when he was seven years old and told us to always follow our dreams. He explained that the name of the book comes from a town called Greymouth in New Zealand which he visited once. He also said that it is a mixture between Skerries and Dingle.
YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY READ DARKMOUTH !!!!!!!!!!
